Huckabee Threatens To Leave GOP Over 'Gay Marriage'

(Christian Post) Former Arkansas governor and potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee issued a warning to Republican leaders that if they abandon long-held positions against same-sex marriage and abortion to appeal to moderate voters, then he would become an independent.

After the Supreme Court decided Monday that it will not hear appeals from states where lower courts ruled against same-sex marriage bans, Huckabee told the American Family Association's "Today's Issues" radio program that if the establishment Republicans surrender their stance on same-sex marriage and adapt to the modern pro-gay political climate, then he and others would leave the party.

"I am utterly exasperated with Republicans and the so-called leadership of the Republicans, who have abdicated on this issue," Huckabee said. "If the Republicans want to lose guys like me and a whole bunch of still God-fearing and Bible-believing people just go ahead and abdicate on this issue. And while you are at it, go ahead and say abortion doesn't matter either because at that point you lose me."

Huckabee added that he would have no issue in becoming an independent.

"I'll become an independent and I'll start finding people that have guts to stand," he said. "I am tired of this."

  1. Go Mike Huckabee! And I will go with you! I think many of us are sick and tired of the shallowness that is becoming the GOP.

    1. Yea, and in the last few weeks, Huck said on his show that those "R's" who were conservative and called "RINO" are the problem...now he's....?? Hypocrite!!!

  2. I've been a Republican for more than 60 years and intend to remain a Republican so long as the party remains true to its founding principles. Talk of abandoning the party is extreme. It's also premature in my opinion. I very much like Mike Huckabee. I'm sorry to hear him even speak of the possibility of abandoning the Republican Party.

    1. Huck recently had a show admonishing those conservatives who would "abandon" the R's due to disagreeing with the majority of "R's" who elected the pol's....He said that those who crticize R's and "RINO's" where ARROGANT to thing they know better than the "majority" who elected the "R's" in the first place!!!

    2. Ray,
Your thoughts are mine exactly. I believe the Republican extreme conservatives need to to rethink a little bit and allow other opinions not to declare they will abandon the Republican party. If we do not agree let's allow some other opinions be respected. Our main aim is to unite and defeat the Dems. Then we can dicuss ou internal disagreements and let the voters decide after the Republicans win the election. Let us not bicker before the elections.

  3. I was a Republican for most of my life. But shit like this is the reason why I am now a Libertarian. Know what I'm tired of? People getting their panties bunched over things that have absolutely no affect on them whatsoever. Dont let the door hit you in the ass Mike

    1. Hey "tough guy" anonymous, what you don't understand is that Mr. Huckabee is standing up for what he believes and what God says! People like you need a good kick in the ass!

    2. Having to field questions from my little kids who know nothing about sexuality about why two men are holding hands and kissing each other like a man and woman kiss HAS an effect on me and my family. Don't tell me there is no effect, even innocent little kids who haven't been corrupted by this world can tell something is wrong with homosexual behavior. This is about what is acceptable in society, of which we are all part, and a lot of people's religious beliefs and morality that they believe comes from God rather than flawed humanity.

  4. If the Republicans become Democrat-lite, I'm following Huckabee. About the only thing separating the two parties these days is their moral stand. What a mess this country has become. Our youth continue their moral decline via the indoctrination they receive in the public school system. Subversive progressives are in control of way too positions of influence in the school and judicial systems.

    1. Huck recently said you must follow the elected R's because they were elected by the "majorty", and calling "RINO" is dissent from the will of the majority.

    2. I don't follow men. I follow my own conscience. When I said I will follow Huckabee I meant from a perspective of order. Him first, then me. It is my choice. No one has that much influence over my decision making.

  5. Go Huck, Go!!!!
If you split with the republican party, and take the teatards with you, you will hand both the house and senate to the democrats.

I can think of no better situation. If the democrats had control of both houses, it would mean we could get the mess the republicans and the teatard retards have made, cleaned up, in short order.

    1. We see the pile of stinking mess you Dems have created. I wouldn't be bragging about that if I were you. You guys are bringing the country down. Guess what, it is going to bite you in the butt when it is all said and done.

    2. What mess the democrats have created. The teatards have blocked everything that the democrats have tried to do, even if the republicans first put the idea forward, and the democrats got on board.

The mess we are in is the mess Baby Bush made and te teatards refuse to let the democrats and Obama clean up.

    3. The Reps have blocked everything? You are clueless. They have blocked nothing because EVERYONE knows Obama does what he wants without congressional approval. You are so naive in believing their lies. But that what happens when you yourself are corrupt. You just don't the ability to distinguish between right and wrong.

  6. I am a solid Repub but I fear splitting the party will only hand this and future elections to Dems. I dot see why anyone should care about gay marriage but the gays themselves! Also I think they need to face the same marriage problems we heteros have had to endure all along!

    1. If you think this only about two perverts getting married, you are in delusion. There is an agenda and plan. Soon your kids will be forced fed the homosexual indoctrination through their public school classes. Next up is going to be polygamy and then pedophilia. You see, when moral standards are breached, it just continues to unravel as the years go by. Just take a look at the countries who have sanctioned homosexuality before us. If you dare open your mouth in opposition of this deviance, you will be in jail.

    2. You are the one who is delusional.
No one wants to force feed the kids any thing other than the insane christian right, that wants to cram their bible bs down our throat.

Got news for you, we ani't buying the bull.

    3. Delusion is an awful thing to endure. So sorry for you. Every single child sitting under a teacher is being influenced. Our school boards establish the curriculum and the teachers must obey their orders or they are out of work. That means most teachers are in agreement with the progressive slanted agenda being force-fed to our children. Not many people teach what their convictions abhor so that alone backs my viewpoint. As far as the bible, that is up to our parents. Of course you probably think parental rights should be abolished so that your corrupt agenda can be advanced. You guys are so transparent when it comes to advancing your agenda.

  7. I'm with you, Governor. This country was founded on godly and God-given principles. Should we cave to every trendy/amoral issue of the progressives and anarchists, the nation will be disposed of rapidly, discarded into the ashcan of failed nations and ideals. We should set the trend for rebuilding, thus not aligning with notions that have caused the collapse of every civilization since recorded history. Comes to mind the old bromide, "Stand for something or you'll fall for anything." Frankly, I rather adhere to principle, instead of cower to destructive trend.

    1. Allen, you have your head screwed on the wrong end. This nation was founded to get away from the commingling of church and state. Most of the founders were deist. the next largest group were atheist. The various christian fragments were a distant third, at best.

  9. I have been tired of the Republicans for over 6 years. The constant butt kissing and bending over is too much.
We need to start the conservative party as the Republicans have just dropped the ball. It isn't about standards anymore it is only about the vote.

  11. Go Mike go.
And take all of the teatards with you.
Then the democrats can take back the house and get the teatard republican's mess.

  12. Most Christians will go with Mike. The problem is that some Republicans and many Democrats are no longer Christians. But, a strong third party could be in the making.

    1. May be a third party, but not a strong third party. the result would be the "teatard" party with about 20%, the old republican party with about 30%, and the democrats whth about 50%.

Good riddance to Huckleybuck, and his friends.
