United Nations Moving To Legalize Prostitution

First came the renewed effort to push the Law of the Sea Treaty. Then came the push to institute worldwide gun-control laws in violation of the 2nd Amendment. And now, believe it or not, the United Nations is pushing to legalize prostitution throughout the world.

The Global Commission on HIV and the Law, a United Nations-backed body, has just issued a report which advocates that nations throughout the world eliminate “punitive” laws in opposition to prostitution.

The Global Commission on HIV and the Law report calls prostitution, “consensual sex work” and along with a recommendation to decriminalize the voluntary use of illegal drugs (as opposed to decriminalizing the involuntary use of illegal drugs we supose), makes the recommendation as a means to combat the spread of AIDS around the world.

The report also recommends that “consensual sex work” be acknowledged as a legitimate profession so that it can be regulated “in a way that protects workers and customers.”

Leave it to the United Nations to combat the spread of disease by encouraging and legitimizing the very behavior that leads people to contract disease.

If you're shocked, don't be. Dr. Janice Crouse with Concerned Women for America affirms that proposals to decriminalize prostitution worldwide are nothing new.

“They like to legitimize the whole industry that way so that it can be regulated and so that it can be considered a ‘legitimate option’ for women and give it more respectability. But, the sad fact is in every instance where prostitution has been legalized, illegal prostitution has flourished."

And who will reap the benefits from the legalization of prostitution?

Crouse again: "The pimps all want prostitution legalized; they like that. The sex traffickers want it legalized because they gain far more traction with their own illegal activities anytime that is the case - it’s happened in Germany, it happened in Amsterdam, it’s been shown over and over again.”

Studies, such as this report by the Global Commission on HIV and the Law, are typically the first step in a process that will culminate in a move for all UN member nations to ratify or endorse the recommendations contained in the study.

The study, by the way, was funded with your tax dollars, as well as monies from Canada, Norway, Australia and the Open Society Foundations, a George Soros funded organization.

  1. Keeping prostitution legal and clean(er) is better than forcing it underground which leads to more disease. Each person can act according to his or her own morality and beliefs. As a society, we must create structures that advance health and safety.

    1. Dufus, you didn't read the article, where it has been legalized, more disease and more illegal prostitution prosper. Pimps even love it. Your Morality clause can follow that I feel it moral to kill you and who are you to say. Control yourself or go to jail.

    2. Janice Crouse asserts what you say. But that is NOT what the studies show. Think about it: A prostitute who is licensed and regularly tested for disease is going to spread less disease than one who is never screened.
And as for morality: Your argument makes no sense. Murder in not a dual-consensual act. Sexual activity between a prositute and a customer IS consensual and therefor a matter for their individual moral choice. Dufus indeed!

    3. Why would prostitutes become registered? That opens them up for all sorts of government control. If they break the law now they will continue breaking the law so they can avoid all the hassles that go with being registered. It's much easier to do the trick and pocket the money. Now for these global policy elitists who currently use prostitutes, they would love to decriminalize this activity so they can justify their debauchery. And it would give these power freaks, like Strauss-Kahn, a way of escape for their inappropriate behavior. Decriminalizing prostitution does nothing so just leave it as is.

  2. I've lectured on related topics around the world, and my one wish would be that people actually examined things they believe and thought them through.

If you actually had knowledge of the "studies" to which you allude, you'd know that most of them are bogus studies that were designed specifically to bolster specific and erroneous conclusions (the UN, byt the way, specializes in that deceptive technique).

The problem with legalizing just about any behavior, that has been traditionally illegal, is that "legalizing" the behavior does not address what compelled our ancestors to make the behavior illegal in the first place. Moreover, it simply encourages the harmful behavior.

Morals do not exhist in a vacuum or simply because some people enjoy telling other people how to live their lives. Morality developed as a mechanism for societies to discourage behaviors that are harmful to the society.

There is rarely any such thing as free will when it comes to the sex trade. Prostitution is, by nature, exploitive of other human beings and one can't stop exploitation by legalizing it or even regulating it.

The Dutch found that out the hard way. In Las Vegas, where prostitution is essentially legal, it's the same story. It helps to fuel the illegal drug trade, physical assaults, the break-up of families etc.

All that being said, I believe you're missing the broader point here, namely that the United Nations has no business or authority dictating to the people of sovereign nations.

  3. Regardless of you stand on prostitution, the U.N. is once again sticking its nose into areas of world politics where they have no business. This is just one more step toward One World Government. Get us out of the U.N.!!!

  5. I am starting to see that all these cases where the authorities actually encourage people to take actions that are considered as sin in the Bible, are actually cases where they are trying to build job security. If people actually loved God and Jesus and followed the Ten Commandments, there would be less crime and strife and less money would be wasted on stupid things like lawsuits and penalties and high medical expenses, etc.
