[Video] Duped By GOP Candidate's 'Pro-Life' Commercial?

When we've been duped, we're not afraid to admit it. Yesterday, we linked to a video of a political ad produced for a GOP primary candidate in Oregon that was so life affirming, it seemed apparent that the candidate is strongly pro-life, but it would appear that's not the case...

If you view the video (below) you're left with the unmistakable impression that Dr. Monica Wehby, who is running for the GOP nomination for the United States Senate, in Oregon, is pro-life, but there's a problem with that "unmistakable" impression: Dr. Wehby, who claims to be "personally pro-life" is "pro-choice" from a policy standpoint.

The Hill reports: "Monica Wehby, the pediatric neurosurgeon running for the GOP nomination in Oregon’s Senate race, caught national attention last week with an ad that featured a surrogate outside of her family — a former patient, who tearfully spoke of Wehby’s efforts to save the life of her infant daughter. That ad pitched Wehby to women and hinted at her personally anti-abortion views without being overt or bringing up her pro-abortion rights policy beliefs..." [Emphasis Ours]

Oregon Live, the sister website to The Oregonian, has also reported: "Wehby's balancing act is particularly evident in her ginger support for abortion rights and gay marriage. When asked about abortion at a recent appearance, Wehby gave a 176-word answer talking about her strong personal pro-life beliefs and left her public-policy position until the very end - that it was a choice 'not involving the federal government.'" [Emphasis Ours]

Yes, we were duped and we strongly suspect that the political ad was designed for the express purpose of deceiving pro-life Republicans into supporting the RINO Dr. Wehby who appears to be in a very tight race with her pro-life opponent, Jason Conger.

Conger, by the way, has the support of Oregon Right To Life.

Here's another interesting point. Polling indicates that Oregon is very much in play for the Republicans and according to a recent poll from Harper Polling, Conger appears to have a better chance of defeating the Democrat Jeff Merkley than Wehby, but that's not stopping the Republican elites in Washington, such as RINO Senators Susan Collins and Kelly Ayotte, from putting their support behind Wehby.

So much for the GOP establishment claiming to support the candidate who has the better chance of winning.

  1. Don't care what her stand is. As long as she is republiCON, pro life or pro choice does not matter, I am against her.
The Democrats MUST hold the senate.

    1. Oh yes, because they are doing such a fine job tearing this country down. Why they love abortion and pushing family values out the window.
Oh yes, let's have some more years with the DemonRATS

    3. In fact, the states should determine whether abortion is legal or not, per state. This is definitely NOT a matter for the federal govermess. Since the horse is already out of the barn, I doubt that it can be practically repealed to a zero count. Therefore, let each state determine what the laws shall be for that state. And let's get past this roadblock to sanity by showing what sanity is. Let most of us halt abortions, and the others suffer from continuing it.

  2. "not involving the federal government" is itself a huge waffle, made possible by the fact that Wehby is running for a federal office. In reality, almost all restrictions on abortion are state laws, not federal laws. When Roe v. Wade came down, state laws ranged from almost as lenient as RvW itself, to laws allowing abortion only when the mother's life was in danger.

    1. Your history is a little fuzzy unknown. Prior to Roe, most states prohibited abortion or placed strict limits on abortion. That's why the pro-abortion crowd chose the federal courts as the field of battle, if they tried to overturn laws state-by-state, they's still be fighting to allow abortion from sea to shining sea.

  3. Doctor Wehby, makes the right point. She leaves the decision to the mother (family) unless it is a serious medical issue she can advise on. She does not support abortion as a means of birth control.

  4. Dr Wehby obviously takes her hippocratic oath very seriously -- first, do no harm. Obviously she is like all Democrats and most RINOs who never met a baby they would not have preferred to have killed in its mother's womb! In the 70's there was some doubt about whether a baby was a person in its mother's womb. Now there is no doubt. Babies have survived by being taken from the mother's womb as young as 21 weeks and 4 days of gestation.
