Ted Cruz Wins Values Voter Summit Straw Poll

Sen. Ted Cruz won the 2014 Values Voter Summit straw poll Saturday.

(Washington Examiner) The Texas Republican received 25 percent of votes at the annual conference. Ben Carson came in second with 20 percent, with former Arkansas Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee in third at 12 percent, according to Talking Points Memo.

Cruz was also the winner of the summit's 2013 straw poll.

He addressed the summit Friday and called for voters to help Republicans retake the Senate in the midterm elections.

"If you want to defend the First Amendment — our free speech, our religious liberty — vote Harry Reid out. If you want to defend our Second Amendment, our right to keep and bear arms, vote Harry Reid out," Cruz said.

    1. FYI --- Both Cruz's parents were citizens at the time of his birth, therefore he is naive born and elegible.

    2. Dear Anonymous,
Cruz IS eligible. Don't let the media & dumocrats tell you otherwise. Ben Carson is a great guy. But why on earth do you want to put ANYBODY in the oval office with no experience at all? Ben Carson could do well as Sec. of Health, then run for Senate, then Prez.

    3. Ted Cruz's father was NOT a US citizen at the time of Ted's birth. His father became a naturalized US citizen in 2005. Therefore, Ted is not eligible to hold the office of POTUS nor VPOTUS.

    4. Cruz is obviously eligible. Since Obama claims to have been born if an American citizen mother, he has been declared eligible twice, even though we have no clue where he was born, or who his baby daddy really is. We know that Cruz was born to a native born American and a legal immigrant, residing, at the time, in Canada..
