GOP Warned: Conservatives Are Ready To Revolt

This former Republican presidential candidate says conservatives are tired of being marginalized and taken for granted within the GOP and the party needs to prepare for more Election Day disappointments if it doesn't produce candidates the base can enthusiastically support.

(WND) Gary Bauer sought the Republican presidential nomination in 2000. He previously served as chief domestic policy adviser to President Ronald Reagan and is now president of American Values and chairman of the Campaign for Working Families PAC.

In a Sunday Washington Post story highlighting the agitation of social conservatives toward GOP leaders, Bauer described the difference between the two groups as a “chasm.” He said that divide is felt by far more than the values voters.

"The chasm is not only between the Republican Party establishment and social conservatives but the party establishment and conservatives generally,” Bauer said. “I’m talking almost daily with economic conservatives, conservatives that believe in a strong national defense, those that are pro-life and pro-family. There’s a general feeling that the party just isn’t fighting hard enough against liberalism here in Washington and seems too uncertain with the message and with the themes that the party says it cares about."

  1. I wrote this right after the 2012 election...Bauer is making me sound like a prophet...

Is it just me, or does the election that just passed look almost exactly like the election in 2008?
Let’s see, middle of the road candidate that doesn’t really excite conservatives?
    McCain 2008 Romney 2012…check.
VP candidate that’s a conservative firebrand and briefly awakens conservative base?
    Palin 2008 Ryan 2012…check.
GOP establishment that muzzles conservative firebrand and waters down speeches to point where they lack all conservative conviction?
    Palin 2008 Ryan 2012…check.
Middle of the road presidential candidate that consistently panders to the center while ignoring the potentially dynamite conservative voting bloc?
    McCain 2008 Romney 2012…check.
Left-wing wing nut left free to paint middle of the road candidate any way he wants?
    Obama 2008 Obama 2012…check.
Left-wing wing nut ushered into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue by abominable GOP strategy?
    Obama 2008 Obama 2012…check.
The GOP better learn and learn fast that conservatives aren’t their enemy. The GOP ignored them in 2008 and lost. They ignored them again in 2012 and lost to a president that has the worst record of any president in American history. They continue to make the mistake of assuming that the conservatives will fall into line behind whatever candidate the establishment sets up to keep the liberals out of office, but the results of the last two elections make it clear it isn’t happening that way. The math is simple. The GOP will NEVER make up in independent votes what they lose by ignoring the base, as the last two elections have undeniably proven. Unless they want to continue watching liberal after liberal take office, they’d better get back to “dancin’ with the lady that brung ya.” She may not be the prettiest girl at the prom, but she is the one that will help the GOP take back the White House and Congress if they’ll get back to holding hands with her again. If they don’t, we’re doomed to relive this mess again in 2016.

    1. hunneymony, very acurate p[ost. tae a look at how Bohner has voted in the last few years. Look how he agreed with Patty Murray to cut our military. He did nothing to curb spending, nothing. He came on stage drunk at the last convention and annnounced new Republican Party Rules that cut out conservitives,. Republicans, party of do nothing? Party of No? I think we ned a party of no to stop the far left, the fraud of a president, obama, and te present administration. The Republican party should be a thorn in the side of this fake Pesident . Russia, Israel, India, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Austrailia, Canada, UK, Norway and Germany, all agree, Obamna was born in Kenya, he also recieved foregign student aid to attend Columbia. and is a citizen of Indonesia. Yet our Republican Party wrings its hands and does nothing. The Rhino Republian Leadership must be simular to the Communist far left Democrats. The Democrats I grew up with would of Lynched the Democrat Leadership we now have. At the least, Tared and Feathered them. Out of all the qualified Black Minorities, men and women, that would of made great presidents, we got Obama. Divide a Nation, it certainly is what he has done. But now, the Blacl Minorities are finally starting to wake up, they see after six years, no jobs, but they have got welfar, food stamps, and free cell phones. And their kids, well they see the illegals storming across the unprotected border, and obama wanting 3.6 billion for them, qnd now the American Minprities are screaming, "What about our kids?". And they should be. We can not save all the kids in this world. We can not even save our own.

  4. All the Republicans need to do is keep fighting each other and we guarantee another Democratic liberal in Washington. It may not be perfect so the only way to straighten it out is to win the office first. Haven't we learned from the past yet????

  5. Isn't it interesting. The parallel between the Democrap Party and blacks. They give the Demonrats their vote even when it is against their own interest. So too, Tea Party types have to vote for Republican jellyfish because they are the lessor of two evils. In both cases they just get more evil.

  6. All government officials, from the president to members of Congress, had better start listening to the legal American citizens, their employers, or there will be a multitude of "pink slips" distributed to each of them!!

  7. It is the conservatives that are being marginalized.
Only problem is that it is the FASCIST and anarchist that have taken over the party that are doing the dirty work.

the GOP should kick the teatard fascist out of the party and let them form their own minority party.
