(Backbencher) The hero of the anti-apartheid struggle was not the saint we want him to be.

The image of Nelson Mandela as a selfless, humble, freedom fighter turned cheerful, kindly old man, is well established in the West. If there is any international leader on whom we can universally heap praise it is surely he.

But get past the halo we’ve placed on him without his permission, and Nelson Mandela had more than a few flaws which deserve attention.

He signed off on the deaths of innocent people, lots of them

Nelson Mandela was the head of UmKhonto we Sizwe, (MK), the terrorist wing of the ANC and South African Communist Party. At his trial, he had pleaded guilty to 156 acts of public violence including mobilising terrorist bombing campaigns, which planted bombs in public places, including the Johannesburg railway station.

Many innocent people, including women and children, were killed by Nelson Mandela’s MK terrorists. Here are some highlights.

  1. Can someone truthfully answer if this was before jail or after/ Was he involved with all this after 27 years incarceration? Is this where his power was or did he truly change & become a committed leader for his country?

    1. I'll answer it by asking another question:

      Has Obama changed since he has become the "committed" leader of our country? Absolutely not. His political philosophy is as radical as it has ever been. And guess what, if you got all your information on Obama from only NBC, you would be woefully uninformed as to who the real Obama is. The parallels are striking.

    2. Oh, one more thing. With these people, the end justifies the means. Yes, there are valid injustices these people oppose. But the methods they use to further their cause is in some cases worse than the atrocities they are fighting against.

  2. In my book Mandela was a terrorist, he killed many innocent people to obtain his goal.
    He was the “che”Guevara of Africa; just another criminal.
    You can’t believe anything the media tell us; they are a bunch of hypocrites with no feelings whatsoever.
