Boehner Announces 'Deal' Forthcoming From His Behind-Closed-Door 'Fiscal Cliff' Talks: Offers No Details

(Washington Examiner) "I believe that the framework that I outlined [at] our meeting today is consistent with the president’s call for a fair and balanced approach," House Speaker John Boehner told reporters. "To show our seriousness, we put revenue on the table as long as it’s accompanied by significant spending cuts."

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who joined Boehner, will now try to sell their respective blueprints on Capitol Hill.

The group struck a rare bipartisan tone — at least publicly. "We have the cornerstones of being able to work something out," Reid said.
