Doctor: ObamaCare Forcing Patients To Request He Violate The Law

(PJ Media) You, the patient, will then have to make a decision. Do you want your "free" yearly exam, or do you want to pay for a visit which is coded for a particular, new problem? You can have my "free" exam if you only discuss what Obamacare wants me to discuss.

I have now posted a notice in my office and each exam room stating exactly what Obamacare will cover for those yearly visits. Remember Obama promised this as a free exam — no co-pay, no deductible, no charge. That’s fine and dandy if you are healthy and have no complaints. However, we are obligated by law to code specifically for the reason of the visit.

An annual exam is one specific code; you can not mix this with another code, say, for rectal bleeding. This annual visit covers the exam and "discussion about the status of previously diagnosed stable conditions." That’s the exact wording under that code — insurance will not cover any new ailment under that code.

If you are here for that annual exam, you will not be covered if you want to discuss any new ailment or unstable condition. I cannot bait and switch to another code — that’s illegal. We, the physicians, are audited all the time and can lose our license for insurance fraud.

  1. Congress can fix this! Simple! allow two sessions in one. Part of the time for the 100% coverage exam: then another session for treatment of either newly found or treatment of on going medical problems. When medicare first begun amount of charges was based on time spent and there were 'reasonable' times for certain care. You have two visits in one. But if the reason you came is the preventative care that should over rule.
Just because a woman has chronic medical problems does not mean she has breast or cervical cancer. So why shouldn't that part be covered under preventative? These shenanigans are on going with the federal health plans now so welcome to what Federal employees have been dealing with! Its not good and ones policy is a 'paper tiger.' Reason some real hearings should have been held and still should.Linda Joy Adams

    1. Why would they want to fix it? This is what they do now. I just went to the dentist for a cleaning and wanted the dentist to look at a sensitivity I am having. But to do that I would have been charged extra for the exam. So, I will wait until my next visit when the dentist is scheduled to do an exam. The same thing happened with my doctor. I went in for a perceived problem. Once it was coded that way rather than a physical, I was charged.

Yearly physicals for young healthy folks is basically a waste of time. It is going to be business as usual with these folks. They are only going to go to the doctor when they are in need of care. Preventive visits are a waste of time.

  2. It appears that this requirement to schedule two exams instead of one is typical of the stupidity of the makers of Obamacare. Aren't two exams more expensive than one? What's the point? Double scheduling creates higher fees. But even more scary than the stupidity is the obvious trend toward the "nanny" state our government has become. Let me rephrase that. New requirements imposed on doctors by Obamacare are evidence for the growing Communistic nature of our government headed by a Communistic president.
