Ryan: Legalizing Marijuana A State Decision
Vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan told news anchor Eric Singer of KRDO in
Colorado Springs that the decision to legalize "medical marijuana" is an issue
best left to the states.
| Ryan elaborated by saying that the issue "is not a high priority of ours" but he has always believed that individual states should have the "right to decide." |
|
While the GOP 2012 platform, approved last week, makes no mention of the issue,
presidential candidate Mitt Romney said back in July that he is opposed to
medical marijuana and called it a "starter drug” and "views medical marijuana
legalization as a means to achieve overall legalization." What do you think? Is Romney right or is Ryan right? Give us your opinion below. RELATED STORIES |
Ryan is right. Hopefully he can convince Romney.
ReplyDeleteMedical Marijuana is a substance shown by many studies (performed by health care providers - not performed by politicians or faith providers)to give relief of symptoms of an assortment of diseases and medical problems. The decision for the health care provider to provide access to this substance should be based on the same decision process that health care providers go through to provide an abortion to a pregnant woman, and should not be influenced by politicians or faith personnel. There are many drugs that could be classified as "starter drugs," including hundreds of pain relievers that are provided to people who, in the opinion of the health care provider, need them for the relief of pain. Certain legal limits are imposed on these pain relievers, but these limits are determined by health care providers, who have studied the effects on "over use," not by politicians or faith providers.
ReplyDeleteThere are those whom amongst the Religious Groups are missguided,For future reference Please Refer to the Book of Revelation Ch22:(vs)[2] Further know that Christ Himself was Anointed with the oil of The Holy of Holies which in it's ingredients contained KANBOOSOM or Cannabis, Now understand that In the words of Christ "You must be anointed and water Baptised in similar fashion" Bottom line:To be a CHRISTIAN, YOU MUST Be ANOINTED FIRST to be properly Baptized into the Family of Christ and if You are not ANOINTED FIRST You have NEVER been Technically Baptized...
DeleteRyan's response is consistent with minimizing the federal government's role in our lives.
ReplyDeleteI think he's right. Like so many other things, it should be left up to the individual states. That is the way it was intended. The federal government would take care of the major things that affect us all (i.e. a unified currency, and national defense) and the states would take care of the rest for themselves.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was working in the People's Republic of China there was one place in central China where countless acres were used to grow Cannibis / Hemp and Jute. In the marketplace you could purchase the leaf to use as an herbal medicine for stomach ailments among other things.
ReplyDeleteWhen thousands of years of history shows there are benefits to this herb why is it the US won't admit there are medical benefits? Sure there are abuses but the same can be said for many things enjoyed by adults including alcohol and tobacco for starters.
Leave it up to the states to decide for themselves.
That's my $0.02 worth.
Of course marijuana is a States' Rights issue. Read our book of rules, the U.S. Constitution, and most specifically Amendments 9 and 10. We never delegated the responsibility to D.C. so it is none of their business. This historic overreach is simply another clear example of why we have the problems we have with an out-of-control government in D.C.
