Homosexual Commercial Tyranny
Gary J. Isbell with Tradition, Family and Property says a chill has just fallen
upon the markets in Vermont as business owners can now be forced to do business
against their consciences. A Roman Catholic family was recently sued by two
lesbians from New York who wanted to use The Wildflower Inn in Lyndonville,
Vermont as the site for a homosexual “wedding” reception.
| An employee from the inn informed the inquirers of the owners’ feeling about hosting such a reception and politely turned them down. |
| That polite refusal brought down the wrath of the ACLU and Vermont Human Rights Commission upon Jim and Mary O’Reilly, who could not match the resources the two giants brought against them. They settled out of court, giving $10,000 to the commission and $20,000 to a charitable trust run by two lesbians. They also agreed not to host any more receptions. |

The Wildflower Inn, as a place of public accommodation, would not be permitted to turn away customers because of their race, creed, handicap, gender, religion, or national origin. These are long-established classes that are protected from discrimination. For some reason, many still think that it is okay to discriminate against gays and lesbians. But it is not. That is all that this case was about.
ReplyDeleteThe gays set the owners up. There are plenty of business that will take any paying customer. The gays are deliberately seeking out business that are trying to maintain their standard of beliefs.
ReplyDeleteThe gays are going to force the business to betray what they belief, bankrupt them or force them to close their business. This is calculated and mean.
The gays demand we give them their 'rights, but those of us who do not live the same life style are having our rights stolen.
