Man Faces 10 Years For Killing Unborn Baby

(LifeNews.com) Timothy Kindle, 23, from Converse County, Wyoming, is facing up to 10 years in prison and/or $10,000 in fines for allegedly killing his  girlfriend’s unborn baby. According to police, Kindle, who had a history of committing domestic violence, repeatedly beat his 17-year-old partner over the course of several months with the intention of causing her to miscarry.

The assaults happened between fall of 2007 and January 2008. The child’s mother, Valarie S. Luckenbihl, now 21, did not suffer any life-threatening injury, but the baby died. When Luckenbihl miscarried, Timothy Kindle’s mother took the baby away and buried the child in the backyard. The body of the 22 to 24 week old child was exhumed by police and Kindle’s mother is now being charged as an accessory after the fact.

Kindle was arrested on January 6. His court date has not yet been set. Luckenbihl has also filed a restraining order against him.

Women are victims of domestic violence all too often, and this violence can escalate if the woman becomes pregnant and the father does not want the baby. In some cases, the woman is threatened and pressured into an abortion and then sent back home to her abuser by the abortion clinic. In other cases, the woman resists the pressure and the abuse escalates, sometimes leading to the loss of her life and/or the baby’s life.  Pro-life crisis pregnancy centers often counsel women to determine whether they are at risk of abuse, and notify the proper authorities, offering intervention and counseling. Such outreach from the pro-life movement is important in preventing tragedies such as this one.
