However, the website only lists one person on the "Our Candidates" section of
its website and it's none other than West's opponent, Patrick Murphy. Moreover,
Breitbart.com links to FEC records that show the PAC was founded by
Murphy's father, Thomas Murphy Jr., the CEO of Coastal Construction, who
contributed $250,000 to get the organization started.
In spite of the fact that the PAC producing the attack ad is bankrolled in large
part by the candidate's own father, Patrick Murphy's campaign still had the
audacity to release the following statement: “The Murphy campaign had nothing to
do with the content or creation of this ad. However, it is amazing to hear Allen
West complain considering he recently called Social Security ‘slavery,’ said the
President is trying to ‘enslave’ Americans...."
West responded: “I would find it hard to believe that the son does not know that
the dad is running this superPAC and what the dad is doing,” and he told
Breitbart.com: "I spent my life in uniform fighting for our great nation and
protecting all Americans. The ad being run against me by my opponent’s family
depicting violence against women and senior citizens is reprehensible."
West went on to call the foray into character assassination and mud-slinging a
"classless ad [that] shows a lack of regard for the issues plaguing our nation" by
"those who seek to destroy a person’s character to cover for their lack of
intellectual ability and integrity." |
