I have supported Scouting for as long as I can remember. However, the decisions being made are not what I would want for my grandsons. Aside from this article they have begun to really push their "no water gun fights" agenda. What a bunch of horsecrap. I will not encourage them to join this organization. The BSA is not now close to what it was when I was a Scout. In fact, I will be sending my Eagle medal back as it no longer means what it did. I can only imagine what agenda is being shoved down these kids throats at Jamborees and Philmont. I hope the Left is proud of infecting even this corner of Americanism and patriotism. Sad...
If a gay scoutmaster can 1) keep it in the closet and 2) not proselytize the boys under his care into the homosexual lifestyle, I guess I can live with it. On the other hand, gay men tend to be disproportionately pedophiles, and that's going to cause serious legal problems for the BSA, as it already has (to a lesser degree) in the past.
Do you have documentation that "gay men tend to be disproportionately pedophiles?" Until you produce that, you won't mind my saying that "priests tend to be disproportionately pedophiles." After the let homosexuals in the Boy Scouts, I wash my hands of the organization, I removed the Boy Scouts from my will, and no long support them locally. As a former leader, I would like to know have the change the Scout Law, removed Go, morally straight ? Or are they still lying about that?
This isn't a big deal. I would just quit the troop my kid was in and join a different one if I found out that a homosexual was leading it. There are lots of troops around. Besides, I can't even name one instance where a scoutmaster was gay. I think it's really rare and mostly a non-issue that the left-wing media has hyped up. The “old timers” are the institutional memory and a backbone of the Scouting Movement. Almost everyone I have spoken with will, very sadly, step down. We like to think we are principled folks in Scouting!
The problem is, when you withdraw from a system, other people come in and take over, other values come in. When it comes to Homosexuals in Scouting they will then take over the reins of leadership! There are Homosexuals and their advocates already there in Scouting, but they used to have to hide their homosexuality and advocacy!
Violating principles does have its consequences. That the BSA’s National Council voted to allow gays to participate openly. This makes me and many like me feel sick and betrayed, for all the time and cost and effort that we have put into the Boy Scouting program. Baden-Powell is rolling over in his grave.
They must then take out the bits about God and ‘Morally Straight’ and ‘Clean’ in mind and body as required in the Oath and Law, for obvious reasons.
Admitting open homosexuals - or even just turning a blind eye whether or not they are openly homosexual and letting them stay, is the worst thing that could happen to the Boy Scouts and most parents in this country will probably pull their kids out. That’ll bring the whole organization down, as it runs on donations of both time and money from the Scout’s own parents, as well as sponsoring organizations that are there BECAUSE it has been an upright, moral organization for so long.
But that’s what the Marxist evil that’s corrupting our country intended: to break the traditional family and replace it with the authority of the state. Boy Scouting WAS one of the key organizations that stood in the way of that, along with AUTHENTIC Christian churches.

People: The Boy Scout pledge: "...I pledge to be physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight." Well...that leaves-out the homos, who cannot make that pledge.
One of the great things about this country is that we are able to have our own opinions and beliefs. Your "nogodsplease" wish/belief is something to which you are guaranteed by the 1st Amendment. All I ask is that you don't infringe or impede on that same right that is guaranteed to me,,,and my grandchildren. Fortunately for them it is me rather than you who help will determine what will make them much the wiser.
I was never a Boy Scout but lived on a ranch near Julian, CA, I was fortunate enough that I could teach some of them to ride horseback. I always appreciated their desire for excellence. That was in the 1930s. Later I was a corpsman in the Navy during WWII, And later a surgeon stationed with the Marines during the Korean War.
I suspect my time observing the Boy Scouts helped me become s better person.
Today, it will be different if Gays are allowed in, read what God says about those practice homosexuality. "they will be given over to a reprobate mind,". Those are God's words.
One can only hope that most of our grandchildren will recognize your kind of injustice when they see it. Already the Boy Scout leaders are seeing that they have been wrong for so long and are updating their opinions to reflect the knowledge most of us have gained over the past hundred years. Additionally, this is not about a diverse culture. To the best of my knowledge there are no religious issues with diversity. There are, however, religious issues concerning homosexual acts. Some things are just over the line. You and I just draw the line in different places.
Trail Life USA is an alternative adventure, character building organization that is fully faith-based. I only recently heard about it so I don't know much more than this. Might just be an acceptable Christian alternative to the "evolving" BSA.
When I was Director of a Big Brother Organization, one of the biggest things we screened out was Homosexuals for what was then obvious reasons-to protect the young boys from the sexual advances of perverts. Also , when I was a youth I was a member of a Boy Scout troop and it became evident to my parents that the troop leader was a homosexual. They withdrew me from scouting, but only after I observed some open homosexual activities at a boy scout camp.I am 79 years old, previously married with boys of my own, and yet I can still recall some of the sick crap that went on at the boy scout camp. Thankfully, I was not part of the activities, but watching still left a memory, so do not try to tell me it is no big deal. People: The Boy Scout pledge: "...I pledge to be physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight." Well...that leaves-out the homos, who cannot make that pledge.
ReplyDeleteOne of the great things about this country is that we are able to have our own opinions and beliefs. Your "nogodsplease" wish/belief is something to which you are guaranteed by the 1st Amendment. All I ask is that you don't infringe or impede on that same right that is guaranteed to me,,,and my grandchildren. Fortunately for them it is me rather than you who help will determine what will make them much the wiser.

ReplyDeleteI was never a Boy Scout but lived on a ranch near Julian, CA, I was fortunate enough that I could teach some of them to ride horseback. I always appreciated their desire for excellence. That was in the 1930s.
ReplyDeleteLater I was a corpsman in the Navy during WWII, And later a surgeon stationed with the Marines during the Korean War.
I suspect my time observing the Boy Scouts helped me become s better person.
Today, it will be different if Gays are allowed in, read what God says about those practice homosexuality. "they will be given over to a reprobate mind,". Those are God's words.
One can only hope that most of our grandchildren will recognize your kind of injustice when they see it. Already the Boy Scout leaders are seeing that they have been wrong for so long and are updating their opinions to reflect the knowledge most of us have gained over the past hundred years. You are by all means entitled to your opinions and beliefs. Problems only come up when your ignorant and unfounded beliefs interfere with the rights of others. Personally, I can't see why anyone would subject their children to the backward thinking that has defined the BSA experience with respect to a diverse culture.

Additionally, this is not about a diverse culture. To the best of my knowledge there are no religious issues with diversity. There are, however, religious issues concerning homosexual acts. Some things are just over the line. You and I just draw the line in different places.
ReplyDeleteTrail Life USA is an alternative adventure, character building organization that is fully faith-based. I only recently heard about it so I don't know much more than this. Might just be an acceptable Christian alternative to the "evolving" BSA.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was Director of a Big Brother Organization, one of the biggest things we screened out was Homosexuals for what was then obvious reasons-to protect the young boys from the sexual advances of perverts. Also , when I was a youth I was a member of a Boy Scout troop and it became evident to my parents that the troop leader was a homosexual. They withdrew me from scouting, but only after I observed some open homosexual activities at a boy scout camp.I am 79 years old, previously married with boys of my own, and yet I can still recall some of the sick crap that went on at the boy scout camp. Thankfully, I was not part of the activities, but watching still left a memory, so do not try to tell me it is no big deal. I am betting you will see a big drop in scouting membership, after the homosexuals realize they have been given a green light. A MOST SAD HAPPENING !

This is all about money and big corporations threating to withhold their donations to BSA, and don't think it is about anything else. BSA needs to close its doors and tell the big corporations where to stick their donations. This is not about the Boy Scouts seeing that they have been wrong for so long, or updating their opinions to reflect the knowledge most of us have gained over the past hundred years. Revising false knowledge and propaganda did not alter their thinking. The Boy Scouts grew MEN with morals and values. It is your ignorant and unfounded beliefs which interfere with the rights of others. Personally, I can't see why anyone who thinks like you, would not just start their own GBSA, rather than subject children to the backward thinking that has defined the Gay experience with respect to a diverse culture. Behind closed doors, you should do whatever you want. Perhaps the Boy Scouts should do the right thing and close their doors, before your diverse culture thinking infects the organization.
