One of the biggest problems, other than fraud, to getting a Republican elected this time around was not that the tent isn't big enough. It is that the Republican party is getting less and less conservative. I hate the fact that over 30% of evangelical Christians sat home and didn't vote, because that helped give us Obama for another 4 years. Shame on those who did that. However, the reason they sat home is because the Republican Old Guard keeps diluting the party with liberal social issue stands. They don't stand with the social conservatives. Makng the tent bigger only exacerbates the problem. Soon, the social conservatives will do their own thing and leave the Republican Party high and dry. Now they may think this is a good thing for the party, but they couldn't be more wrong. Without the social conservatives they can hang it up.
