More Ballot Meltdowns In Florida... Unbelievable

(Palm Beach Post) Another printing error affected as many as 500 additional absentee ballots brought howls of disbelief from those who have long wondered why, since the 2000 butterfly ballot debacle, Palm Beach County appears prone to election meltdowns. "You’ve got to be kidding me," former Secretary of State Kurt Browning said when told of the latest snafu.

But, Bucher said Tuesday it doesn’t appear the problem is widespread. She said she sent out correct ballots to about 500 voters who had received ones that didn’t include one race but instead listed three races twice "in the abundance of caution."

Her office only received two or three complaints, she said. However, in an email Bucher sent a Boca Raton woman who got one of the misprinted ballots, she said her office "was aware of 29 ballots" that weren’t printed correctly. She denied she sent the email.

Further, she said, no one who received the misprinted ballot will lose their chance to vote for president or any of the other candidates. The misprint only affects proposed amendments to Florida’s Constitution.
