LA Times Upset That Liberals Are The Villians In The Dark Knight

We truly tried to resist writing anything about The Dark Knight, but a recent review of the movie in the LA Times could not be allowed to stand without comment. The headline of the review says it all: "'The Dark Knight Rises': Is it advocating responsible capitalism?" Believe it or not, the reviewer, Steven Zeitchik, appears to be having some problems accepting the portrayal of villains as villains and heroes as heroes in the movie.

After issuing a back-handed insult at the movie for "spilling out political content wherever you look" in the second paragraph (imagine that, liberal movie reviewers having objections to overt political messages in movies), Zeitchik proceeds to write:

"Contradictions abound in "The Dark Knight Rises." There is a man (Thomas Hardy’s Bane) who urges populist unrest against a monied elite and a woman (Anne Hathaway's Selina Kyle) who speaks the language of social justice, stirringly asking a member of the 1% "how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.” Yet both are, for at least chunks of the movie, villains — in Bane's case, murderously and maliciously so."

Contradictions?  Newsflash Mr. Zeitchik, have you ever heard of the French Revolution?

Do we really need to point out, Mr. Zeitchik, that tyranny, in modern times, has always come from the Left? We could wax on and on about communism in the Soviet Union and China, fascism in Italy, and yes, Nazism in Germany. We could point out a simple fact that the lamestream media refuses to report; namely that Occupy Wall Street protests are typically plagued by violence, crime and mayhem and Tea Party rallies are typically peaceful.

Tim Brown, in FreedomOutPost.com, has written a commentary on Zeitchik's review that is worth reading. You can find it by following this link. Happy reading.
