Pass The D-Day Landing Prayer Act
H.R. 2070, The D-Day Landing Prayer Act, passed the U.S. House of Representatives on January 24th by a vote of 386-26. Senator Rob Portman (OH) has introduced the bill in the U.S. Senate and has called for its immediate passage. We need you to send an urgent message to the U.S. Senate in support of The D-Day Landing Prayer Act.
Senator Portman released the following statement with the introduction of the Senate D-Day Landing Prayer Act, “On D-Day, courageous Americans risked and sacrificed their lives to preserve our freedoms and end tyranny abroad,” said Portman. “That morning, President Roosevelt asked our nation to come together to pray for the men overseas. His words brought strength and comfort to many during one of the most challenging times for our nation and will forever be etched in our history.
“This bill ensures that FDR’s prayer will become a permanent reminder of the sacrifice of those who fought in World War II, and of the power of prayer through difficult times,” he added. “I encourage the Senate to take it up and pass it quickly.”
In May of 2011, honoring those brave men and women who served our country in WWII, Congressman Bill Johnson of Ohio’s 6th District introduced legislation that will place FDR’s D-Day Landing Prayer at the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. - H.R. 2070. It has now moved to the Senate – One step closer to becoming a reality. Help us push it over the line TODAY!
