Video: GOP Congressman Doubts Authenticity Of Obama's Birth Certificate But Says Let's Just Move On

(ACN) Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO) recently told audience members at a town hall meeting that she has "doubts" that Barack Obama's birth certificate is authentic, but when pressed, she pivoted and claimed that Barack Obama's eligibility to hold office under the Constitution of the United States, is not "the real issue."

When an audience member asked her if Mr. Obama's birth certificate was a "forgery," Hartzler replied: “You know, I have a lot of doubts about that. But I don’t know; I haven’t seen it. I’m just the same place you are on that – you read this, you read that – I don’t understand why he didn’t show that right away.”

Then, in the very next breath, she added: "I don’t think that’s the real issue. The real issue is this November. There’s something called an ‘election.’”

Perhaps, Let's-Just-Concentrate-On-The-Upcoming-Election is the new Republican mantra.  Congressman, Jeff Flake recently parroted the same line at another town hall meeting. Of course, that's little consolation to patriotic Americans who rightly believe that elections are not a legitimate method of enforcing the Constitution.

And if you're still asking why Hartzler would equivocate in such a manner, know that it's an indication that those who are taking members of Congress to task over Mr. Obama's eligibility are gaining significant ground.

In spite of the media blackout, the issue surrounding Mr. Obama's eligibility refuses to go away (and it shouldn't go away).  Until recently, members of Congress simply bruhed off the question, but now they are starting to realize that brushing off the question may have severe and career ending questions; hence the equivocations.

Hartzler is trying desperately to have her cake and eat it too.  She'll find, in the long run, that it won't work.  To those who refuse to let the issue go away, take heart, if pressure continues, equivocation will give way to serious consideration of the issue.

As Martha Stewart would say, "that's a good thing."

  2. Move On? Where to?

Mitt Romney isn't a natural born Citizen either. Shall we move on to him? Or how about Rick Santorum; shall we move on to him?

No, Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), we can't move on. One has to defend his own American birthright. It is who we are.
